Battle of the brakes, Round 2

Sooo, we return to the changing of the brakes. But this time we have help! Thank goodness for friends that have expertise in things like this. Much more smiling, much less, uh....., frustration.

Today, the guys win! And now we know how to change those drum brakes. Yes, it means more tools and another trip to the auto parts store. But it's nicer when we actually have a clue what we need...

Battle of the brakes, Round 1...

One of the ongoing events at our house is the tinkering and fixing of vehicles. Usually his vehicles. Most times, I stay out of the garage and let him and the car duke it out. If I hear a yell or especially loud "CLANG!!" then I run down to see if I have to lift a car off him (not really...) or just distract him from wanting to blow it up (yes, really). In our most recent bout, he is installing his rear drum brakes for the very first time. He asked me to sit in and "bring your camera if you want." I lent a hand when I could but mostly just watched. Still pictures don't do justice to the experience, but video would probably have to be censored...

My incredible part-time mechanic. Today, the brakes win. But he won't give up that easily...

Summer reading...

Date Night...

On the way home from work yesterday, I had an overwhelming urge for egg rolls and a visit to the bookstore (you know that increasing archaic place where actual books made of paper are sold). I mentioned this to the hubby and we made a date night of it...

Ah, summertime...

For me, summertime means long days, warm weather, fresh air and fresh food!! And this year, thanks to the birthday present from my mom, I have fresh tomatoes right on my deck...
